Diversity in the Classroom

The course aims to provide educational staff, working in a diverse environment with tools, strategies and to exchange best practice to address and promote diversity and tolerance in the classroom for overcoming prejudices and discrimination. It will also support educators to develop their cultural awareness while giving them the tools and new approaches to teach to a multicultural and ethnically diverse group of students. Main components of the course include:

• Introduction of diversity in historical perspective

• Contemporary challenges in the diverse classroom

• Establishment of inclusive school environment 

• Developing intercultural competence as a teacher 

• Fostering students’ tolerance and intercultural awareness 

• Methods to fight stereotypes and prejudice 

• Non-formal methods in teaching 

• Visits to educational institutions
